Analysing title sequences

Opening Title Sequence For Spectre

Spectre, 2015, Sam Mendes.

The title sequence in Spectre was constructed by British stage and film director Sam Mendes. It is a gripping and chilling title sequence, the images shown throughout foreshadow the plot of film. This captivates the audience. It shows a fiery backdrop surrounding significant characters such as James Bond, Eve Money penny, Silva etc. The close up shot of Bond holding a ring splattered with blood is the first signal that Spectre is a film packed with drama, action and possibly death. The dramatic music and dark images back up my hypothesis. All in all I loved this title sequence and this film.

Kill Bill Volume 1, 2003, Quentin Tarantino.

Kill Bill Vol 1 is striking and a visually beautiful revenge tale. Created by Golden Globe award winner Quentin Tarantino the film went on to win numerous awards such as a BAFTA. The first installment of 4 was definitely gripping and chilling. Even with all the violence and blood shed Uma Thurman's witty lines made the film somewhat light hearted and comedic.
