blog health check 2
I was quite unhappy with my current blog health grade, so I am deciding to record more of the behind the scenes to show progress in my title sequence
Blogging Health Check 1 - feedback and targets
Having read through the feedback I understand what I need to do to improve my work and achieve a better grade.
6 minute challenge reflection on ideas
A$$OC%AT£
The process of coming up with a idea was quite difficult as we had a short period of time to come up with one. However, soon after we were able to come up with various ideas. We finally decided on a 3 protagonists that all work in one big department store but face daily struggles and come up with a plan to start stealing to help them to get by. Ultimately I think as a group we struggled with coming up with something that everyone greed on. However we were able to overcome this and come to a common ground which joined our separate ideas into one.The easiest part of coming up with our idea was the title coming up with good storyline which would appeal to a wider audience was more difficult then we thought it would be.

Branding the blog
We reworked the blog to suit our Urban youth genre. We went for a vandalised wall because youth are often seen as the rebelling generation. We decided to go for a dark palette which consisted of dark reds and blacks because youth dramas are often seen as dark and violent

ident creation
UNIVERSAL KEY
my company is called universal key. I decided to create a playful, key and lock animation for my ident. My intention was to implicate a comedic but metaphorical logo for my production company. Reason for this is it can produce a range of movies from comedies to drama movies. The name universal key was chosen to make sure it can cater to a range of genres and themes.

Distribution
Home Box Office (HBO) is an American premium cable and satellite television network which make high budget series and movies. HBO is known for making comedic chick flicks such as the famous Sex and the city series and movies.
I think this is the best production for my individual film due to the convention features coming from an extremely girly genre. So i think this is the perfect production company.

Blogging health check
I received a low grade because I never uploaded my blogs, instead, I saved them as drafts which weren't visible. I will make the following improvements to my blog: to use titles instead of just numbering my blog post, also to go into more detail in each post.

Individuals Ideas
Initial ideas
I would like to create a teen high school opening film scene. I got his ideas from the film Legally Blonde. As I like the way the opening sets the scene for the rest of this film. I also think it would be fun the create an opening scene based deeply on two protagonists. Coming up with the main characters would be interesting and it would allow us to explore the typical codes and conventions used in the genre of Teen High school movies.
PLOT
2 girls from two completely different worlds end up crossing paths at high school as they share a common interest of being class president. A first they were at odds with each other but eventually find a common ground and come together as one.
CHARACTERS
1. Popular girl that everyone likes
2. Quiet girl who wants change
The opening scene should consist of establishing shots of both characters doing what they like for example makeup, reading, dancing, running etc.
The camera cuts to school lunch hall and everyone talking within their own social groups. (cheerleaders and footballers, geeks, drama squad and the outcast etc. Two main protagonists walk in from different sides of the hall and end up bumping into each other dropping everything.. The scene then cuts to later in class when the opportunity of being class president comes up. Both characters volunteer and put their hands up. Scene ends with a close up of both staring at each other. Popular girl looking overly confident whiles the other character looks worried.

Target Audience Research
A Target Audience is a particular group at which a product such as a film or advertisement is aimed.
Urban youth drama Kidulthood: Originally I thought the target audience would be teenagers and young people from the ages of 15- 24 years old. Mainly males to be interested in this type of movie. I thought it would be most popular in the UK London. Social class of people would be student and possibly young part time works. They would be interested in many brands but mostly the newest and freshest trainers. They would enjoy music mostly rap and like being out and about with theirs peers.
I found that I was completely wrong. The gender most interested in this film is female. Aged 18-24, based in London. They are employed into the marketing, advertising and entertainment industry. They like brads like New Look, Ben & Jerry's ice cream, Sky and Tesco.

Action/Comedy Rush Hour 3: The aged group would be 18-24. Mostly male. Based in London. Their social class would be employed. In the computing profession. They would be interesting and analytical but sometimes lonely and unhappy. They would really have particular brand they like but shop in shops like Tesco. To entertain themselves in their spare time they would research new things and get update to date with all the new technology. I found that I was wrong. Males were most interested in this film but ages 40-54. Living in the East Anglia. The personality traits they hold are being a leader and being confident with occasionally bring grouchy and depressed.

Comedy The Hangover : I think this type of movie would appeal more to males aged between 24- 35. In London. In a good job marketing or advertising. They would be very out going and carefree people. Liking brands such as Apple. Footlocker, JD Sports etc. I found that there were females more interested. Aged between 25-39 living in London. Employed into wholesale, retail and construction industries. They like brans like Primark, JD Sports, Boots, Sky and Claire's accessories. They shop at Iceland. Having personality traits such as funny, clever and knowledgeable.

Task 15 individual ideas

Individual Ideas
My initial idea was to create a thriller/teen slasher film.
The story line would of been based on a group of teenage girls from different social group who were flatmates.I had used a typical idea where one of the girl who was a social outcast to be at home alone whilst she waited for her mates to return home from a party she had chose not to attend. While she was alone she'd receive a phone call from an unknown number threatening her and etc.Whe shes on the phone numerous events start to occur.I would have used jump shots and fast paced music to create this and close ups of the character.
My idea was inspired the opening of the horror film Scream where it used a teenage girl to portray as a victim.
Characters-
Sky-The social out cast who didn't enjoy social gatherings, enjoyed reading and doing work, looked as a nerd and dressed more simplistic and basic compared to other characters and hopes to unnoticed throughout highschhol
Stephanie-The 'Popular' girl, dressed cool and was always presented well, had a lot of friends but was seen as a bit intimidating and often rude to people outside of her friendship circle
Mercedez- The emo chick, always wore dark colours and kept to herself other than her flatmates, enjoyed being in social gatherings only if there were other emos to accompany her.
Leah-This character was cool, calm and got along with all social groups, doing well in school and seen as a relaxed individual

creating an initial idea from the arbitrary title, location and props was a brick wall but we rapidly overcame it. By drafting by associating locations with types of movies and themes. We easily created a plot for our title sequence after drafting by using the conventions of other movies.
We realised that time keeping may have been an issue when creating camtasia annotations.
I think our six minute challenge was quite successful and our idea was believable and wonderful

My favourite film
My favourite film is Legally Blonde. In this title sequence we get clues of what the film may be like.
The type of title sequence used is titles on a moving screen. I think this was the best title sequence for the film because it introduces the storyline of the film to the viewing audience. This title sequence helps to get the audience excited and engaged with what the film is going to be about. The titles are placed over moving images so we see some props that are very much important later on in the film. We meet the main character Elle Woods and get an overview on the locations in the film
for example the gym, bedrooms, dressing room etc.
Overall I think the opening title sequence was good and effective as it clearly showed that the film was about and kept interested audiences engages. The use of music was significant as it help to show the mood of the film to be very upbeat and preppy.
is my favourite film because I like the plot of storyline of showing how you do not have to fit into stereotypes to be popular.THINKING CREATIVELY - THE 6 MINUTE CHALLENGE - initial ideas
6 MINUTE CHALLENEGE
The task that we were given was to create a title sequence in six minutes. We selected from a arbitrary list of props and locations. The selected location was a Department store and our prop was a camera. We then used Wikipedia's random article finder and it gave us an article on Continuity Associates - we abbreviated the name to Associates because we though it was more appropriate name for our film.

Target audience
What is a target audience?
A particular group at which a product such as a film or advertisement is aimed.
For example Disney Channel's target audience would be pre-teens (10-12) all the way up to teenagers (13- 18).
YouGov results on the film The Hunger Games:

I choose the genre of high school because it's relatable to
almost everyones life. i think it would be a great way to show the contrasting
social groups and how they come together for education
the plot for my title sequence -
is a girl and a boy simultaneously getting ready for the first day
of college. The title sequence begins with a wide shot to establish
the two main characters location and how their surroundings differ
- instantly establishing social class. followed by a match cut
of the female character alarm clock and the male character waking up.
Soon after both characters proceed to check their phone ( this begins to
explore the teenage addiction to technology)

Task 9- What is genre?
Genre
A genre is a way of distinguishing a type of film by its common features and a way of describing and categorising different forms of media like film and television. The different types of genres are romance, comedy, horror, thriller and actions. There are also hybrid genres. This is when two different types of genres combine to make one, for example rom-coms.They are extremely vital when making movies because through genre, codes and conventions are easier to establish giving a pattern for construction, acting almost like a template. It also allows the audience to identify and choose what they may specifically prefer which means that production have a type of audience they can market to.
Altman was a media theorist who stated that film genre can be talked about in two ways.
1) Syntactic (macro) –This is the story that the films tell us
2) Sementatic (micro)- How these stories are presented
He observed that films from the same genre tend to tell the same sorts of stories and have the same character types and themes and also look a similar way by having similar camera, editing, sound techniques, and using common mise-en-scene.
In the movie mean girls, the genre is high school. Its mains codes and conventions are bright colours, a group of girls and is mostly set in a high school, the mall and the protagonists home are also locations which are used throughout. The main storyline would revolve around a girl facing her teenage struggles throughout the year such as boy problems and conflict with another group pf teenage girls which are usually popular. My favourite high school movies include mean girls, clueless ad bring it on.

In horror movies, the genre is usually hinted to the audience with slow paced eerie non-deiegtic music which then fastens as it builds suspense. The storyline would typically involve either a haunted house or characters/props being possessed. The setting is usually dark and there also vulnerable females. Jump cuts are also used very commonly in horror moviesThey may also sometimes include a group of friends getting murdered one by one as they try to escape. In this particular movie,a doll s possessed and creates problems for a couple.

Analysis of two title sequences
Gone Girl
The title sequence coerces the obsessions and personality of the main character straight away. The title sequence consist of multiple close ups such as: hand writing, pains, hair colour, lips, teeth. Which builds up our relationship with the character immediately. The title sequence swiftly moves from close up to wide shot of the scenery. This adds more information to the identity of the character. The the title sequence switches back to close up of the characters lips. The credits were not integrated into the action, however it didn't disturb the short story going on - title sequence.

Girl on the Train
The start of the title sequence started with the movie production team. The title sequence (ts) starts with a head shot with the main character and the urban background music. The TS flashes through a range of close ups and wide shots to establish the story line. The rapidness through the different shots represent the characters life and imitates what it is like to be in the characters head. Z form is used to integrate the credits into the TS.
